Jesus promised that He would not leave us alone
The fourteenth chapter of the Gospel according to John is a conversation of Jesus with His disciples about His early departure to heaven and the concern that the 11 had for Jesus’ departure and their future. This chapter also teaches us the promises of Jesus for His church and that He is with us until the end.
The disciples were worried because Christ’s departure was approaching, and it was not for less, because, next to Jesus they saw things that they had never seen or felt, and they are seeing how soon all that will go, but this was not true, since that the work that Christ had begun He would also finish it.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
John 14:16-19
