Let us run with patience

Christianity is like a race, like those competitions that athletes do, they always fight to run that race well, to be in the first place and thus be able to win the final prize. Another thing that can be highlighted is that their eyes are always on the goal, they also eat very healthy and practice their whole lives to win. Beloved brothers, Christianity is the same, we run this race and we must do well because in the end a crown awaits us. The apostle Paul said:

24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Paul sets an excellent example, a race in a stadium, several people running for the same prize, but only one can get the prize. The apostle tells us to run this race so that we can get the prize. Here we can make a stop at the phrase “in such a way”, it is as if Paul were saying: “Remember everything I have told you about Christianity, how to live it, then, live in that way, in order to obtain the crown of lifetime”.

And as we have said before, these people abstain from many things in order to run well, and the same is up to us, to refrain from certain things in order to run well. Oh beloved brothers, are we abstaining from certain things to run this race well?

We run, but not waiting for a prize that will then be forgotten and will pick up dust on the shelves of our houses. We run a race that involves an eternal prize, and that is why our career is a good race.

So beloved brothers, let’s run this race of faith well, knowing well that we will get the best prize.
