Psalm 143: 7 tells us of a man who asked God to be delivered from his adversaries, from those who persecuted him every day to destroy his life.
Before all this man named David had something very pending in his heart, he knew how to go before the presence of God. He knew how he should act in the presence of God asking for mercy and liberation. But note that it was not that David was being physically held captive, but out of affliction of spirit.
The psalmist David in this psalm asked God for the direction to be able to advance in the way and he made supplication of mercy before God.
7 Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.
8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
9 Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.
10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Psalm 143:7-10
This man’s anguish was so great that he asked God to come to his aid soon, but despite his despair, he knew that God would come to him. Sometimes we ask God to come down, but we do not know that He is very close.
David’s cry was very sincere and great before God, but do you know anything? God came to David and helped him, he did not abandon him, His power was manifest and strengthened him, He was his powerful shield.
It is good that we learn to do His will, that we learn to ask God and also wait for His answer, because God acts at the right time, not when we want.
