When we look around, we see very high mountains that when we see them we are amazed by the beautiful work done by the hands of God, but not only that we are astonished, but that God’s protection of our lives is much higher than these mountains.
He is great in power and majesty, and His power defends us from our adversary. If the enemy wants to come to us, he must cross this great wall that takes care of us as a gigantic shield which is the God of armies.
That is why we must trust in the Lord, deposit everything before Him and not fear that which makes us the front, rather put it before Him who is giant and powerful:
The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
2 Samuel 22:3
Only the Lord can protect us, we must not stop believing in Him. It is as the previous verse says, that God is our high refuge and sustains us day by day, we must fear nothing because God frees us from every plan of the enemy.
God gives us strength to move forward, to advance in His Name just as many ancient men believed in the Lord and were freed from the clutches of the enemy. They believed in God and He was their shield.
The same psalmist David speaks several times about how he was delivered from his adversaries, when he faced lions and other beasts, and when he killed the giant Goliath. God was his defender, He saved him and gave him strength so that he could defeat those who made him the front. That is why it is good that we always put our God on high and that we give glory to Him for the victories He gives us, because if His shield were not before us, then we would have been torn down.
