Keep yourselves in the love of God

When we look back at the early days of the church, we find that they were truly united. They shared a deep bond, feeling each other’s pain and ensuring that everyone had what they needed by selling their possessions. Do we exhibit the same love for our neighbors today? I don’t want to sound pessimistic about the current state of the church. Instead, I believe there are areas we can improve to preserve the love of Christ among us.

Jude provides guidance on this matter:

“But you, beloved, build yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.”

Jude 1:20-21

Before these verses, Jude identifies those who cause divisions. He then shifts the focus to us, emphasizing the need to strengthen our faith through prayer in the Holy Spirit.

As a church, we must avoid being divided by conflicts and disagreements. Instead, we should nurture Christ’s love in our lives, following His commandment to love God wholeheartedly and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

In conclusion, let us remain rooted in love, devoted to prayer, and supportive of one another as we strengthen our faith in our beloved Lord Jesus Christ, who will return soon. Amen.
