Persevere in prayer

Prayer is a vital aspect of a believer’s life, as it allows us to communicate directly with God without the need for intermediaries or appointments. God is always ready to listen to us, making this a precious gift that we should take advantage of and cultivate through perseverance.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of perseverance in various contexts, including prayer. As Christians, we are called to persevere in the face of challenges and difficulties, and prayer is an essential part of this journey. While it can be difficult to maintain perseverance in prayer, we must not let this discourage us. Instead, we should strive to regain strength and make our best effort each day.

The apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 4:2-3

2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:

Colossians 4:2-3

Here, Paul uses the imperative “continue,” emphasizing that prayer is not something we can negotiate or try occasionally; it is something we must do consistently. Prayer is not just about asking God for things, but also about giving thanks for all that He has done for us.

Is prayer difficult? The more we engage with spiritual practices like reading the Bible, gathering, praying, and fasting, the more our spiritual appetite grows. We must run towards these practices and persevere, knowing that with God, we can achieve our goals.
